So I have entered the fair to show my homing pigeon (squeaker, 4 weeks, too young?), Serema roo, other Serema roo, and perhaps the Serema hen if she isn't broody by then, haha,
So here are my Q's
1) how do I get ready for the show? I know I need to wash the bird a few days before show, how many? 2, 3?
2) How do I get the birds ok with being handled? I can handle one of the Roos easily, but the pigeon and other roo both are very against having their wings opened. I can feed the roo treats but the piji won't eat from me
3) How do I keep the white roo from going yellow? I've been told I should keep them inside for a few months, but not exactly an option, haha. I can keep him in the coop, but the fair is next month so what should I do about any yellow feathers?
4) What do I bathe the birds with? What could I add to make them 'brighter' ?
5) lastly, 'how' do I bathe them? I don't want to ruffle up their feathers, but not sure how to clean them without doing so
Thanks for whatever you can do to help, first time showing, now off to google!
Oh and I'm not exactly entered yet, which is why I asked if showing a 4 week old squeaker is too young (she's 4 weeks as of now)
