My first show in 2 years is coming up!
I am very excited to start showing again, especially because this year I have some pretty good birds, and I actually know what I'm doing.
I am showing
Hen trio of Red Sex links
Black Bantam Cochin Frizzle Cock
Blue Large Fowl Cochin Frizzle Cockerel
Blue Large Fowl Cochin Pullet
My county only has 2 serious kids showing for 4H, me and one of my friends JT. Everyone else is there with their "Ameracaunas" that are actually Easter Eggers.
I wouldn't be taking this so seriously but I'm hoping it will show my parents that I am dedicated to showing chickens, especially LF cochins.
I will most likely just run a wet towel over the sex links, and clean off their legs, feet, comb, and waddle a week before the show and separate them from the other layers. Then one day before the show repeat it again.
For the Cochins, I am kind of lost on what to do with the frizzles. And how many days before I should bathe them.
Any tips on how to bathe cochins would be greatly appreciated also.
And what does everyone use for the combs and wattles?
