I am starting to prepare now for Spring of 2022 and will be selling fertile eggs and chicks. I sold some this spring/summer as well but next year I plan to only have a couple pure breeds, only one mixed breed and increase production.

I live in Northwest Arkansas and trying to figure out which breeds would be the most profitable and turn quickly. How do I find out what breeds are in high demand in my area? Anyone have suggestions? I read other posts as well but there are a wide variety of breed recommendations.

As of right now the plan is to breed BLR Wyan, silkies, showgirls, Cochin and Cochin/silkie mix.

You might look at what is selling at your local feed store. Everyone seems to be in awe over colored eggs.
Yes I agree any chickens that produce colored eggs seems to be in high demand. Other than that the local feed stores sell very “standard” breeds like the Orpington, Rhode Island reds, sex links and barred rock.

They are selling them because that is what people are buying. I personally would do those breeds add one or two colored egg producing breed.
