prepping layer hens for slaughter

I am taking my 3rd old layers to the slaughter place on the 19th. Any advise on how I should prep the birds, ie quantity and type of food for the best meat?

I would feed them about a 22% protein and all the scratch grains they can eat.

These are only going to be good for soup stock so the more fat on them the better the soup will turn out.
