preserving quail eggs- Miss Prissy?????

DISCLAIMER: I don't have quail, but my friend does.

She wants to keep the teensy eggs by poking them with needles & blowing them out. I thought I read on this forum - PERHAPS FROM MISS PRISSY - that quail eggs can be set out to dry and will be preserved. Then you can use them for decor...

Is this true? Can you set quail eggs someplace to dry out & later use them for crafts?

There are a lot of people that blow-out the eggs, but yes, a quail egg is so tiny that it should just dry out eventually on its own. But you might want to blow it out anyway, just in case it decides it wants to blow. Doesn't happen very often, but it does happen!! And besides, all the yolk and whites would still be inside the egg if you don't blow it out.

I make Ukrainian eggs and we've never had a problem with them drying out. I imagine a quail egg would be easier because they are smaller than a chicken egg.

We just store them somewhere not too warm and not too humid and they dry out over time. I've never had one explode on it's own...but have cracked one or two through my own fault.

Also, once they are completely dry, the yolk is nothing more than a shadow on the side of the inside wall and the white disappears completely. Egg shells are porous so all the liquid evaporates eventually.

what if you put eggs in a dehydrator like the ones used for drying fruit and jerky?

why not just use an incubator that way you wont ruin a good jerky machine with egg stink should one explode.....

Too humid in an incubator, I would think.
