Pressure Cooker

I found a brand new Cuisinart electric pressure cooker I didn't know I had. Anyone use a pressure cooker and how do you like it?
I use mine all the time. I have 2, Presto 4qt and 8 qt. Make stew in 20 minutes, what's not to like! Do you have the instruction booklet it came with? That is your best info. I have an article in my signature line, copy and paste.

The directions for my pressure cooker are missing. I contacted Cuisinart and they are sending me a manual. In the meantime, I found some directions on line so I can use it. I followed your link to the fried chicken recipe. The instructions say something about letting the pressure rise to the point the vent or whatever rocks back and forth. Does that mean high or low pressure? I am thinking the Presto pressure cooker sits on a stove burner. Mine is electric, automatic, and self contained. I want to try that recipe.

I have one that sits on the stove and has the vent that rocks back and forth I love it. I go in phases when I use it all the time and then forget about if for a bit till I remember hey how come I have not used it :)

Do you know if the vent rocking back and forth would be high pressure or low? I want to make that fried chicken, but I am a complete novice and I am not sure how to set it.

A did it just say rocking back and forth? How long is it having you cook it. Depending on the speed of the rocking determine the pressure. Slow rocking - low, fast rocking - high

I just looked on the link you gave. It says slow rocking so I assume that means I should set my cooker to low pressure. Your, or rather the Presto, recipe said to cook the chicken for 15 minutes. The chicken in that picture sure looks good. I am anxious to try it.

My cooker is 15 pounds, that is pre-set by the weight that comes with it. The recipe is scanned from my instruction book, so it assumes that 15 is all you have! That is why I wanted you to get your cookers book, it is written just for your machine. But, the new machines usually do not include recipes for cooking chicken! No one does that anymore, since the Cornish-X is the only chicken in the store.:(

I did buy some cookbooks written for the pressure cooker. They do have recipes for cooking chicken. However, too many of the recipes are not written for cooks like me. They call for exotic ingredients that I have never heard of and are certainly not available where I shop. That fried chicken recipe from Presto sounds more like what I would want to try. I have been reading the books but I will not use the cooker until I get the book from Cuisinart. It is currently out of stock but they have assured me they will send me one as soon as it is available. I am waiting for it to come before I attempt to use the cooker. The number 15 is helpful. It gives me a starting point. I can remember my mother using a pressure cooker a lot when I was a kid but I don't remember much about it other than it made a lot of noise when she released the steam.
