My sweet "little" Olive, she's huge, was sick this spring and stopped laying eggs in May. She was absolutely my best layer giving me extra large eggs everyday and rarely missing. I nursed her back to health with diet and love however, she now only pretends to lay eggs. She will get in the nest box for an hour and do her little song and dance and produce nothing or on occasion a soft shelled mess. Her illness consisted of sever diarrhea and lethargy and I gave her a diet of plain greek yogurt, oats, and supplement for three days before she bounced back, none of the other ladies were sick. I am wondering if she is just done laying eggs, which would be very, very sad because it has been three months. She is 2 1/2 years old.

Her system may be kicking back into gear, it may just be weak and never work again, or she could perhaps be laying internally, in which case could be the cause of her illness (egg yolk peritonitis).

I'm glad she is doing better!
