A pullet is considers a hen when it reaches a year old.

I know this is true,but so many call egg laying pullets hen. I just wanted to understand what was meant for this thread.

This is Henrietta but we just call her Henri.
Henri is a cream legbar.
Henri was delayed as a baby and wouldn't go outside unless we made her. But then she would just run back inside. She has a bad eye-that's what I will show in the next pic-. We are guessing that her bad eye is just a defect but it is nothing that we can fix. She seems like she can see out of it fine though. She sure was a kooky chick but now she is the sassiest hen we own! But we still love her so much! Also she lays medium sized bright blue eggs and is one year old.

This is Big Momma… she is a golden laced Wyandotte that I rescued when she was about 5 months old. She is the best surrogate momma… she can get super broody, but let’s me sneak eggs underneath her when necessary. When she’s not sitting on eggs, she loves to ‘talk’ while she follows me around the yard waiting for her favorite treat… watermelon!

This is Lucky, a 7 month old Partridge Cochin. She hasn’t layed an egg yet, but I’ve seen her in the nesting boxes recently, so I’m suspecting we’re getting close.
