I can't see from your picture what kind of wire your coop/run has.
My chicken run shares a fence with my vegetable garden, and that fence has 1x2 inch holes.
From the damage they do, I think that their necks stretch a full foot through those fence holes.

. We have fairly extensive gardens out front with a cottage feel, lots of arbors and climbing plants, flagstone paths and retaining walls and raised beds in back with different varieties of berries. We live in an urban area and our yard is large, but not huge so we've tried to make every area have a purpose, but flow nicely. My poor husband just wants to be done building. I don't have the heart to tell him it may be another year or so...
