Hello!

I'm a new chicken owner with a flock of 18 birds that are now 13 weeks old. They free-range all day and roost at night in their coop/chicken run. They are still on Grower/Finisher crumble. I've been reading about de-worming chickens and I'm wondering if this is something I need to do?

I have not seen any worms in their droppings, and all of the chickens seem healthy and happy, are active, as well as growing steadily. I really have no indication a worming is needed, but I was wondering about preventative/routine de-worming of chickens. We live near a swamp that floods into part of the yard when there is heavy rain (which has happened the past week) so the chickens do have access to this swamp water.

Thanks!

Jana

Your birds are young...Wait till next spring and think about wormer...I for one have never had to worm by birds...
Never seen a worm...I have had mites and dust my birds and coop...

Just a thought.
