Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.

Hello all,
Last year was my first time hatching eggs. Both from an incubator and a broody hen. Out of each batch was one breech egg. Now I did not know about a breech chick until after the fact. Does anyone know how to prevent it? I know you can assist but it can be hard to tell if a chick is breech.
