Preventing free range escapes

Hi yall!

While I have a while to plan, as my babes are under a month old, I am wondering what to expect with free ranging birds.

We live in an urban area, we have just under a quarter of an acre total with the backyard fenced in with 4 foot chain link.

We cannot have birds escaping into the neighbors properties....is free ranging out of the question or are there steps I can take somehow to prevent bird-escapes?

And of course we will have a coop with a run, but I was hoping to be able to let me girls out while I am in the yard.

If you're planning to be out with them while they roam the yard, I can't imagine you'd have too much trouble keeping them in your yard. A bird thinking of jumping a fence usually looks pretty obvious. As a precaution you can try clipping one wing.
