I haven't looked at chick prices lately but I'm not surprised. Prices on everything just keep going up.

Hadn't noticed it, but not surprised at all. General inflation + millions of chickens killed at poultry plants where bird flu is detected will result in higher demand/prices for new chicks.

Talk about inflation, I just asked the 10 year old daughter of a co-worker how much the tooth fairy leaves now. She replied with $20.00 per tooth. I then told her all I got was a quarter for each tooth 60 years ago and it was hard to get that much.

I think it just depends on the hatchery. specialty breeds are always expensive, but production layers seem to have similar prices as last year.

At Rural King here the prices are about the same.
Leghorns and most production breeds are 3.99
Specialty breeds are 7.99

Prices went up and so did shipping cost... Was gonna order chicks but ill just get them at tsc for $1 when they dont sell lol
