Pricing for polish?

Ok I have a question about pricing. I have a friend that has a pair of private breeder white polish for sale. She wants 40 dollars for the pair and the hen has just started laying. Is this a fair price?

We price our birds according to their quality in relation to the APA standard of Perfection. Just because they came from a private breeder does not make them worth more than a hatchery bird. In this area any large fowl male will bring $7-$10 at the auction. Females a little more. So if they have good crests,good type and size $40 a pair is reasonable.
