A quick shout out to see if there is anyone from Charlottetown, PEI lurking out there? We are working to discover and change the poultry laws of Charlottetown and would love to get your help. If you, or someone you know, is sympathetic to the cause of backyard poultry, please have them email me. They can reach me at j(nospace)biggley at yahoo dot com.

Also, if you live on the East Coast and have a copy of your community by-law, for or against, urban poultry, please drop me a line. I am compiling a list of Canadian by-laws and ordinances around urban poultry to make the case to our city councilors.

Hi Josh

Best of luck as you gather information, and act.
Remember that some federal and provincial laws can override municipal ones during your research.
If there is a conflict the issue can go to court, such as the definition of chickens as livestock in Nova Scotia.
Because you live in a largely agricultural province you will probably find the laws more flexible.
Also, be sure to go to the Chicken Farmers of Canada websites, where they keep files of all laws pertaining to poultry!
