This might already be an option but i've het to figure out how...

it would be nice, for PM's specifically, to be able to have the most recent post at the top, rather than the oldest. some of my conversations have become PAGES long (if i were to print them) and a pain to find the most recent one...

i'm referring to a single conversation, not the list of messages...

IS there a way to have it display newest message at the top rather than bottom?

We've got a few ideas to make the messages a bit easier to use, but in the interim we suggest that if you have a really long PM conversation with someone that you just start a new conversation with them and "archive" the old conversation.

Quick question kinda on the subject (well, kinda sorta!) Is BYC working on a live chat? Sorta like what's on FB or Yahoo? Just wondering. Do NOT want BYC to turn into something like FB!!

But would like to live chat with some members. Thanks!!

you might make a new thread on that...

We use to have live chat, but we found the cons FAR exceeded the pros. The main reasons we let it go:

  1. Too hard to monitor / police
  2. Too many frequent reports of problems
  3. The information is not archived or kept in a way that others can learn from it. This is the core value proposition of a forum: One person can ask a question, 20 people can engage and help answer the question, then for the next 100 years the question and answer can be indexed, searched, discovered, and read by millions of people. In chat, one person asks, a couple may answer, and then the wonderfully helpful info is lost forever.

thanks for that explanation. but what about having the ability to sort PM's 'newest to oldest' rather than 'oldest to newest'?

Thanks! I completely understand.
