Hi!

I’m not super tech savvy and have no social media to practice on, so forgive me if I’m doing this wrong!

I’m new to chickens! Got them about 7-8 months ago. All was going well until WORMS. Had no idea, lost one last week (😢), and am now trying to figure out how to deworm them. It’s confirmed roundworms, so I got fenbendazole (poultry dewormer 5x). I’m confused by everything I’m reading because the bottle says to use it as one time dose, then one other time 10 days later. But some people seem to use fenbendazole for 5 days in a row.

I gave the first and only dose to my flock 3 days ago and saw a worm in chicken droppings today. It came out wiggling and well, which I wasn’t expecting. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Thought they’d exit dead, so I’d know the medicine was working! Any insight/advice is welcomed and appreciated!

I find this site so super helpful. I’ve browsed posts for months now, just reading and learning. Happy to be here and looking forward to learning more from you all!

Welcome to BYC! Fenbendazole works best when given several days in a row. The product you have contains only 6.7 mg of fenbendazole, which is hardly anything. If I were in your shoes I would treat them for 5 consecutive days with what you have.
Thank you! So should I just basically disregard the one treatement I gave 3 days ago, and start over tomorrow? Giving them 5 consecutive days in a row starting tomorrow, and then one additional day 10 days later?
