PROBABLE RACCOON PROBLEM; NOPE, GREAT-HORNED OWL

Several years ago I lost several birds to a GHO. I haven't since. I put heavy duty netting covering all of my pens. My game camera told the story.

Too expensive for some of us. I absorb light losses over time making other adjustments to protect birds. There is a never stop learning component and the owls are part of my area of interest and they may provide benefits even around the chickens.

I found the netting on eBay and put in a bid never expecting to win it. I paid $125. for 50' x 200'. It didn't quite cover so I bought some other netting that was actually quite cheap to do the extra footage. My pens are totally 60' x 200'. I have plenty of owls around here too. We can hear them at night in the trees in our back yard hooting to each other. We are rural and live on a dead end road. They have excellent night vision being nocturnal and haven't touched the netting.

MIne will not touch deer netting either. They keep at least 3' away from it whether in flight or on the ground. They seem scared of it.
