The two largest chicks, loudbird and blackbird, are probably males. They are also two if my favorites.

Blackbird is sweet and chill. I had to give him a bath today and he just sat in my lap, practically falling asleep, after he was dried.

Loudbird has a huge, outgoing personality. He was outside for some sun and exercise today. He caught and ate the first live bug. He was the only one to spend the entire time exploring.

How do you handle having to rehome your favorites?

Gorgeous boys (or girls I can't sex silkies) :love

I love roosters more than I love hens, their big personalities are fascinating! I have a tendency to keep all the cockerels I like, and form them into a gentleman's club. Had as much as 7 roo's at one point this year. I can't for the life of me manage to give away roosters, no one wants them here so the alternative is to chop and freeze... :(

Can you keep any of them? In that case, keep them as long as you can to assess their personalities and who's best with the ladies before making your decision.

Some how or another, when I buy chicks. I always tend to pick the boys... I love my roosters. But I dont have the coop or run to keep them all. Some go to auction. Some find new homes. But one in particular, a mille fluer d'uccle with a crooked beak. Was the sweetest little man. I named him Scraggle Raggles. He got a new home with a couple D'uccle hens hens this week. I was sad to see him go, but happy he will have his own flock of ladies! I just can't bring myself to butcher my boys, so I try to find them a home!

Sir Scraggle Raggles

I would wait a bit before you make any decisions. I wouldnt say for sure that they are boys. But I cant help with the part about getting rid of them. I have 4 roosters now because my babies are my babies and I fall in love the moment I see them :love I just keep buying more hens to make up for the rooster count lol

I sent out the blood samples for DNA test yesterday, so we will know 100% sure soon. I didnt want to raise them for months to find out that I had all roos and have to start again. Not to mention the <3 factor.
