Probably a newbie question...feeding

He is a call duck (bantam sized) and will always be tiny compared to the girls. He will try and can mate with them creating "interesting" mutt ducklings.
Good base feeds:
Nutrena all flock
Purina multi flock
Purina layena or omega 3
Extras you can add:
Rolled oats
Whole oats (adults)
Blackoil sunflower seeds (BOSS)
White millet
Wheat
The above is just for ideas for base feed you offer. Adult ducks don't "need" feed available 24/7 like ducklings do. Free ranging and finding bugs and eating grass is also apart of daily diet.

Thank you so much Celtic Oaks, I was starting to head in that direction as to what he is. I usually give them the Purina layena, but it's nice to see the other things that can be supplemented. Thank you for all your help..

We love our ducks, the new girls are definitely interesting personality wise...LOLThey wait by the door to get fed and as soon as I get the door open they run into their house and wait for their treats to hit the ground. After the treats hit the ground they stand at the doorway and quack at me to leave, kind of like telling me ok, we want you to leave so we can eat. Fred just goes about his business and will quack at them to come get the goodies. Oh, and the love when I flood part of the living area with water, makes for getting those night crawlers much easier...LOL

We will be building a new run for them over the next couple months with a small graded pond and then we will add 3 more ducks. We are looking into Buff Orpingtons, 2 ducks and a drake. We will be at our limit at that point which is fine, 6 ducks with 4 producing eggs will keep us and many others in duck eggs beyond our ability to eat them all.

I've been looking.
Right now I have a pekin who is sitting on eggs. We lost her sister and would love to get some new ducks but wasn't sure she'd accept them. So instead we are letting her raise her own new friends.

Thanks for the info, now wondering if I should just get the two buff ducks and no drake. I'm sure that will make Fred a happy little camper having a harem to himself...LOL Will the buffs go broody at all? From everything I have read the khakis won't so I doubt I will ever get a new duckling out of them. Hmmm so much to think about while allowing the flock to get just a bit larger.
