Probably jinxing myself----

Crows will 'alert' to the presence of a hawk and will mob red tails. Pigeons soon learn when the crows are screaming "HAWK" and quickly enter the loft. Around here they pretty much leave the Coopers alone as the Coopers are so much quicker than crows. I have actually seen Coopers pursuing crows. To eat them or just for fun????

I see I wasn't sure if it was that or they would chase them. I know some smaller birds will do that at times. I also know crows are mean temperament things although smart. I used to help with bird rehabilitation and raising up the little orphaned birds at my towns local wildlife rescue center. The crows and great horns always had such bad tempers! So I could see them going after hawks.
