So, I see all the time on here people talking about the difference between hatchery chickens and those purchased from a breeder. However, I want to show some chickens at the county fair next year...my hens are just hatchery hens. Is it worth it? I really don't know how showing even works. Does it just depend what class they're in?
Sorry, I'm clueless!

At a county fair, yes, it's worth it. Most chickens shown at county fairs are indeed hatchery birds.

The best thing to do is first watch a show, see how it works, then enter birds another time or at another show. Look at the APA site, they have a list of all the recognized breeds, their colors, and the class they belong in.
