So I was given a big bottle of Southland Organics Big Ol Bird poultry probiotics a couple of months ago, I waited and researched because I am still a year noob. My 5 hens and roo have had this in their coop water for 3 months now, but they also free range with numerous water sources too. I get 4 eggs everyday, my old adopted sex link and EE even lay more often and have better shells. So that's all great but I not sure of somethings. Should I eventually go back to only fresh water? If I wanted to feed fermented feed should there only be fresh water? Danke

I can't answer your questions, but it sounds like your birds are doing great! I use FF, so have not spent any money on supplemental probiotics. An other thing you can do to benefit their gut health is to convert their run to deep litter if they've eaten all of the vegetation there.

They are all voluptuous lately ha. Actually have deep litter in their run, I've done that from the moment the vegetation went away without knowing what I was really doing just adding a bunch of bedding layers, it works great. They have 5 acres of grass and woods in FL to explore as well.
