Chain-link fence provides litmus test for a couple of predators that are typically not an issue for me at home because birds at home roost up at least a few feet and I have dogs. Three species occurring here do this. They kill prey item and can go through chain-link fence themselves, but are not always able to pull carcass through behind them.

I don't have mink in my immediate area, but I'm assuming that's what wedged your rabbit friend in there like that.

Your thoughts?

I"ve had rabbits get stuck all by themselves (when they got scared by my dog) in my chain link fence and surely if a raccoon had come upon them first they would have gotten them.
That is possible here too. How long did it take the rabbits to extricate themselves?

Here we have a high abundance of small rodents again making the areas very attractive for weasels and mink. The mink have lots of ponds to go to and the fenced in area is an area the mink need to go through to get from one set of ponds and to another up the hill. The mink have also been playing weasel going after mice in sheds housing blower and pump equipment.
