Problem Dogs - How to WALK the WALK

One of my pet peeves is people who over react to predators. There seems to be a lot of them on BYC. Today I got a chance to walk the walk. I have a neighbor who moved out from the city and brought his attitude with. Today I caught his two big black labs chasing my chickens around. Luckily I saw what was about to happen and was able to prevent any bloodshed.

Now I had a chance to practice what I preach and was able to talk to my moody neighbor and get the situation taken care of. He was apologetic and promised to keep his dogs under control which he nearly always does. I know how attached we all can get to any pet so for me I had no choice other than to try and talk it over first and I'm glad I did. Now he has been warned and I will be justified if I have to take drastic measures.

So glad you had the " talk" with them first. Like you said...he has been warned. Glad there was no bloodshed!

Hopefully, he will make a serious effort to confine his dogs. I'm glad none of your birds were injured. We have a neighbor that has been warned about their dogs repeadedly (even ticketed), but they still get out and roam. The neighbors always say that they tried so hard to confine the dogs and they are really sorry and it will never happen again. But, since you can't cure stupid, they recently got out again and killed 13 of my birds. Now the neighbors will get to talk to the judge about it. If I see the dogs on my property, they will be shot on sight. They should have been shot a long time ago (the dogs - I know I can't shoot the neighbors).

Again, I'm glad nobody was hurt at your place, and I sincerely hope that the dog owner is a good one that will take adequate precautions.
