so I have four quail in total, 3 females and 1 male.
the female have been laying for about two months now. past two weeks, I've stuck two sets of a dozen eggs into the bator, and see no progress in any of the eggs.
been checking some of the newer eggs and I can see the females part on the yolk, but no "bulls eye" on any of the eggs I've cracked open, only solid white dots.

I've observed the male and he seems to be able to mount the females, but that's about it. he doesn't seem to be able to get it right.

so my question, will my male eventually get the hang of things, or should I get a new male.

the birds were at laying age when I got them. took about two weeks to get them to start laying. i've had them two months now, and no fertile eggs yet.

they are on 15 hr timer, on 20% feed and always have oyster shell available. so the problem is not with egg production, it's with my male. should I get a new male or is artificial insemination an option for these tiny guys/gals.

You might want to get a new male. Best of luck!

For some males, it can them a while to get the hang of mating. So give him time. He will figure it out eventually. LOL
