Problem with an egg layer

We have 4 chickens, about 9 months old. All 4 are laying eggs. One of the chickens will not lay its eggs in the nest. none of the eggs are ever laid outside but rather in the coop on the chicken wire. They are all broken when i go out to get them in the morning. The eggs havent been eaten, rather they are just cracked.

Why wont this chicken lay its eggs in the nest and what should I do?

i put plastic easter eggs in my nesting boxes and just today i got my first egg in the right place.

I have them too. They are actually working great. All 3 other chickens are laying in the nest and no problems...i just have 1 chicken that cant get it right.

What should i do

Don't know what to tell you.

We have a piece of carpet in our laying box. Could you put a piece of carpet where the pullet has been laying?
