Problem with bowl for water? Chemical smell

Winter is coming up and I looked up a few ways to keep water from freezing...the one I'm seeing the most is using a black rubber bowl...simply go dump the ice out and replace it when i need to..i went and bought a black rubber bowl but I got it home and there's a strong chemical/rubber smell inside..Ive tried to use dish soap and water to wash it out...left baking soda and water in it all night..left it outside for 48 hours..any ideas how to get this smell out before i put the water in for the chickens? Or will it even matter about the strong chemical smell..it seems like that wouldn't be very healthy for them.

It will be fine, the bowls do stink but all natural rubber stinks.
It won't harm them and they cannot smell it.

Those bowls are great for farm animals because they are hearty and when they freeze you ca bang the heck out of them with no worries!

I got two 5 gallon jobs for 3.50 on chewy a week or so ago.
Never though id be so thrilled over rubber bowls on sale.
