Problem with chick.

Ok, so I am not sure what is going on with one of my chicks. At first I though she had pasty butt, because I noticed some feces back there. When I picked her up and looked closer I realised that her vent looks to be free and clear. I cleaned her up and can see that the area under her vent seems to be swollen, red, and even slightly purple-ish in one spot. Not sure what is going on. It was most definitely not like that the night before last, because I checked them all to make sure their booties were all clean and poop free. Here is a picture:

Also, after having the chicks for a week, the others have already grown a bit, but she hasnt. They were all the same size when we got them, but this chick doesn't seem to have grown. Here is another picture of the group, you can see how small she is compared to the others:

I know the first picture isn't the greatest, but was wondering if anyone has seen this before. Thanks!

I can't see the spot you are talking about, but I suspect it could be the navel area? My guess is there's something internally wrong with it and it will eventually pass. Unfortunately there's not much you can do but hope it starts to grow.

Agreed with this assessment. Does this chick seem to have a mushy belly, or area around the discolored spot? (I think I see some darkness to the left of the vent.) I'm guessing she may have omphalitis.

I have seen this same problem with an older chicken on a different BYC thread. Everyone who had looked into the issue were recommending to take extra good care of the chicken (i.e. making sure it drinks water, eats, etc.), and were also saying to bring it to a vet.
