Hi there had my 5 chickens 3 month now ,bought as point of lay, they have been laying 4-5 eggs everyday but one of them will not come out the nest box she gathers all eggs up and lays on them, puffing and displaying when I go in, I picked her up this morning and she is completly bald on her tummy,do I need to take her to the vets or is this something that happens,I am new to this and quite concerned, p,ease help and give advice

Ok thank you I really don't know if I could give her ice cubes to lay on:, does that stop her being broody and will her feathers grow back ?

Her feathers will grow back. There are various ways people will break a broody. Just type how to break a broody in the search bar and pick the method you are most comfortable with.

hahaha i have a cochin that insists on being broody, and now surprisingly enough an industrial leghorn has gone broody, and an other one has started being a cock in the morning...

Miss Wendy went broody on my and I do not want to deal with a hen sitting and pouting. I bought her 3 babies to raise and she is soooo happy. The other two are under her

Mine just got over being broody.I'd take her from the nest for awhile each day to be with the other chickens. Her broodiness lasted around two weeks then she snapped out of it she went into a partial molt then started laying again. I think it was good for her to remove her from the nest at least once a day
I hope things work out well for you and your bird. Good luck!

Thanks, she is doing well with her adopted family. One little chick did not thrive and we lost her. When I told Chris Smith Hatchery about loosing a chick she offered to replace it and even gave me an extra. I slipped them under Wendy last night and she took right to them.

Now she us caring for one Wheaten Bantam and 3 Silver Sebrights. I am sooo excited. New chicks and she does all the work!
