Problem with my cat

After seeing how it effects the cat's life I would put a cat down before I would declaw. Softpaws work on every cat. Sometimes when you first start using them you have to check them frequently and some cats have to be wrapped in a towel to put them on but they do work. You just have to be willing to put in the initial effort for the cat's own health and quality of life as well as your own happiness at not having things destroyed. After awhile the cat doesn't obsess over the softpaws and they don't get pulled off frequently. Also for several cats I've used them on they eventually give up scratching and you can let the softpaws slowly fall off without them starting again. Carmel did about $300 in damage to my mom's house and then destroyed a couch here and my mom was ready to declaw her or dump her somewhere. She'd been destroying things for about 6years now. I put softpaws on her for 3 months when we bought a new very nice couch and that was that. I haven't put the softpaws back on in 6months and she hasn't touched anything. If you really have trouble with the softpaws staying on buy a tube of regular superglue and use that. They will stay on but check the paws regularly to make sure they aren't causing any problems because they may not fall off at the usual time as the nail grows out.

Good for you trying the softpaws. Try again and hold your kitty for a while after applying them (about 10 minutes) to give the glue time to dry. Mine don't like that part, so I feed kitty treats (they do like that part!). Then keep an eye on them for a while and whenever they start trying to chew them off, distract them by playing with them (ours likes the laser pointer - can't resist it!) or making a loud noise to startle them. Good luck, I hope they work out.

Well, my aunt one time had a 16 year old cat declawed when she moved to another place (he was originally an indoor/outdoor and she didn't want him at his old age to get lost outside at a new place, so she made him and indoor only, which he had absolutely no problem with lol.) He did great, hurt a little for awhile, but after a few days he was back to his mean, ornery self (cat was born mean lol.) That was before the laser stuff and way before anything like those softpaws or whatever they are. Anyway, to make a needlessly long story even longer, he had been a seriously good hunter his whole life, caught more squirrels than you could shake a stick at, best mouser on the face of the planet, etc, but surprisingly once he was declawed he never even looked at the door again wanting to go outside. So I think you're cat will do fine lol. The pain's only temporary, heck, we all get hurt sometimes, and yet we manage to live. Since then we've all had others declawed, they've all been their wild little selves within three days. So yeah, I'd declaw.

I am also a huge fan of softpaws-- I am a vet tech and have used them for YEARS and YEARS -- I used to do green and red for Christmas, etc etc but that was when I had more time on my hands I guess LOL
If they don't stay on, (besides the not letting the glue dry long enough mentioned already) sometimes it is because the nails were trimmed too closely (leaving not enought bonding surface for the glue) or too much glue was used, or the wrong size nailcaps, or the nails were wet/dirty/hairy and the glue could'nt stick. I agree with the other poster to just use superglue.
Maybe you need help the first time so you can get the nail extended fully?
Another point= you could always just keep kitty's nails trimmed very short. Use a human toenail clipper to clip cat nails.

The soft paw package that we bought did not come with glue. I am going back to the pet supply today to see if I can find it with glue. Euthanasia is not an option for our family. I could never euthanize my pet unless it was very ill. My cat is very friendly and loving. He will sleep for hours on my lap just purring away, He sits on our back porch staring at the birds stealing the dog food. I was hoping for a hunter when we got him. What a lazy kitty he turned out to be. LOL
