We've just recently moved our hens to a shed made into a coup and within days of letting the hens out we've got about 3 rat holes, 2 going under the shed and 1 under our pig ark. Whats the best way to get rid of them without hurting the hens or pigs? Were thinking of getting some ferrets but at the moment that aint an option. Anyone else had the same problem? Someone told me rats sometimes kill hens Thanks:)

Here's a great little how-to video to make a bucket trap. I use snap traps and a .22 myself. I would not recommend getting ferrets unless you want some dead chickens. Ferrets kill chickens. They don't even eat them for the most part; just kill them for sport.

Good luck.

If you are willing to go the poison route, Just One Bite (bromadiolone) will kill the rat, but if an animal eats the dead rat it will not be harmed.

the bucket traps aren't working for me
