That looks like 1/4" or 5/16" nylon rope. You would be amazed of the strength of it. The break point of 1/4 is about 600-800 lbs. and that bear is only about 150-200 at most.
 
Yeah, I could see where that would be an issue. Beautiful pictures though. You might try submitting them
