I would also tie down the coop and if you used chicken wire as the wire on the sides, replace it with hardware cloth as coons can tear though chicken wire. Also, coons dig and dig they will, so put a cloth or chicken wire skirt all the way around the bottom of the whole coop and for all latches, ensure they are the lock type as coons can open doors and gravity latches.
For the hunting if that is the way you are going, a 1000fps pellet rifle will only work at point blank range OR if you are one excellent shot and can get your pellet into the ear or behind the ears of the coon to ensure a quick death. Else it will just run off and die somewhere. I use a have a heart trap to catch them, and dispose of them with a 1000fps pellet rifle with .177 or .22 pellets up close at point blank.
