I'm way far north of you in Sacramento. Too bad I'm so far away... I've got some sebrights in the bator right now that are in lockdown and hatching (one has pipped!). I would just GIVE you a couple of those if you were local.

Oh I love sebrights! It's okay though. Shipping of chicks (or any animal) is an uncomfortable thought with me and gas is expensive..
I do have one silkie, a nice rooster. He sorta is my lap chicken but everytime I put him down he poops. Well not EVERY time but very often. I had him on my lap resting while on Facebook for about 30 minutes and he pooped. Luckily it didn't get on me and wasn't watery or his regular "canned dog food" - like poop.
I would love a hen of any bantam breed especially for Skippy's sake (I love mutts!). Not too small though.
Skippy lives with his largefowl family and he never gets hurt because he knows to stay out of the hens' way and to stay out of the higher ranking roosters' way. Skippy is 4th ranked roo I think (I have 5).
