Ok i just recently decided that i would attempt incubating eggs. I got a mix of eggs from a friend and have been turning them three to five times a day. The temperature staid pretty stable between 99.5-102. But the humidity flucuated greatly between 40-56. So yesterday was the day they should start hatching. I got two yesterday, and two today. But when i went to work something went wrong with the thermostat and the incubator got up between 104-110. My electronic thermometer sits a little higher and always is higher than the normal thermometer. I found one chick head out of the egg barely peeping and he seemed stuck because the humidity dropped low like 23 low. So i took a damp sponge and gently helped it get wet enough to get loose from the membrane. There is no bleeding and he drank some electrolytes just fine. but now he is just laying there he peeps if you touch him but does anyone have any ideas what to do with him to help him? Also one of the first chicks hatched out and had one eye that bulges out kinda like a bugs or frog that has been squeezed. What would cause this and is it a hazard for the chick? What should i watch out for with this chick? And is there any chance the other eggs will hatch? Should i candle them or just wait and see what happens?
