So I went to the local feed store that I have been going to and got some of my first chickens from to buy some feed for my flock. I find out that they stopped carrying the Manna Pro I had been getting and are now carrying Southern States All Grain Poultry Layer/Breeder. They stopped carrying manna pro because they suspect the formula had been changed as the owner of the store and his employee as well as many customers claim their flocks stopped laying and switching feed was the only thing that got them back to laying. The owner said he asked his sales rep and she got quiet for a bit then said they had not changed the formula, but from her response and reaction he believes they have but are not supposed to discuss it.

Anyone hear of this?

Also any opinions on Southern States feed?

Thanks,

Martin

Southern States layer is vegetarian, which is my main issue with it. I try to feed only feeds with animal protein, which is why I also avoid Layena by Purina. I've heard of Manna Pro products, but never have seen the feed, so can't comment on it. I have fed the SS Super Breeder crumble which is 21% protein, yet, I think it's still veggie feed.

I know this is an old post, but I have fed manna pro for about a year now with little problems with it. Was producing an egg a day from my laying hens, until they caught some Illness and now I have a pretty high mortality rate, I do not know if I have the feed to blame. They stopped eating it all together but still eat table scraps and corn. So yeah I am changing from manna pro. This was just as of last month that I bought this bag that I'm having the issues with, so far 60% mortality rate. From feeding the manna pro, my chickens have a lot of vitamin deficiencies that are causing a lot of problems.. It is very powdery as well, most of the 50 on bag goes to waste because it's powdered. Hope this helps.
