so i go outside to my backyard to check on my hens and then i see my rooster just with his wings up charging towards me and pecks me on the legs and he usually stops after like 2 minutes anyone know why this is happening?

It is happening because he thinks he is doing his job of protecting his flock. He sees you either as a threatening predator or a competitor for the hens' affection.
Do you handle your hens during the day?

You'll get a lot of advice on how to correct the behavior. Some try to dominate the rooster. Some send him to freezer camp.

I haven't had a human aggressive rooster in over a decade and have only had two in my life and I sometimes have as many as 20 at a time. I live harmoniously with my birds. I don't threaten them and they don't attack me.
The two, both Plymouth Rocks (a white and a partridge) both tasted great.

He’s a rooster and likes to be the caretaker and boss over his flock. And maybe is showing off to his hens. You could be an intruder in his thoughts. Some aggressive roosters even think the caretaker is the enemy who needs to be suppressed.

Do handle him asap if there is no reason for this behaviour. Teach him you are the boss. Pick him up and hold him to the ground for at least 30 seconds. Do this every day for a week or so. If he still attacks you after this training I wouldn't keep him if for offspring.
Do be carefull with children.

You can find more information in the learning centre.
