Processed FIRST birds today- UPDATED LINK

When we processed ours, my daughter collected all of the heads and put them in a baggie in the freezer. She planned on taking them to school for show and tell.

Needless to say the heads disappeared a few days later, I don't think the school would have been to appreciative! lol I'm sure I would have gotten a call about that one.

Well, I don't know about tough. We just prepared them well I guess. My son went screaming like a baby when the yellow jackets started showing up. LOL

Here are some pictures of my 8 year old daughter.

Nice job. It's amazing how the kids are with these tasks. My 7 year old
handled our 2 culls (so far) better than me or his mom.

A note about bees, flies, and odor:
My farmer friend has told me many times to order my birds late to mid summer
so processing takes place in the colder bugfree months.

OMG I just watched your slide show. THAT WAS GREAT. I'm laughing my
a** off here. I love when they're checking out the hanging chick and when
your son has the head. PRICELESS.

Give those kids a nice pat on the heads from me.

That's kind of creepy.

I grew up on a farm, but my parents were very tolerant of my childish ways. When I was 5, I hid a dead piglet in the freezer --- just in case it came back alive (I begged for all the runt piglets / outcasts to handraise).
My mom raised poodles about the same time, and one of the pups had it's neck broke trying to follow us kids into the car --- I hid that pup in the freezer, too.
I didn't have the concept of 'dead' yet.

Kind of makes you wonder if kids were in charge how different the world would be. Bet there would never have been video games and breakfast cereal. :lol
