The bird looks great! Congrats.

You're probably sick to your stomach because you loved it and then processed it. I doubt you got sick from the bird.

Oh it gets better. You guys should be proud, cuz your bird looks great! Only needing to do three is a good number. I had 15! After 7 of them, over the course of a few weeks, I was wiped out. Luckily Greyfields told me about the local processor, and they did an excellent job. It also takes me 1 hour to do 1 chicken, and the processor will do 8 in no time flat.

Great job! I have 2 more roos to go too. Then in about 3 months 3 more - unless they sent me a laying hen as a packing peanut.

DBF and I have talked about getting some meat birds next spring. We'd definitely take them to a processor.

I commute 70 miles roundtrip daily and it's hard enough to find time to cook dinner, much less kill, gut, and pluck it.
