Processing a Turkey

We are planning on eating one of our BBW this weekend but were told today we might not want to.
We have been giving them medicated feed... is there any length of time that you need to stop giving that to them before you eat them?

I don't know about the medicated feed but the bag should have a meat withdraw time listed on the bag if it is a problem. If you have never processed chickens or turkeys before, they are pretty tough if you don't age them a few days. Turkeys should rest in the fridge for at least 4 days but 7 is better. That is even if you plan to freeze.

Thanks! we have a call into the feed store we use because they bags all got thrown away and they are just plain brown bags!

Figures.. big game this weekend (SEC Championship) and I was going to cook me up a birds... WE got rid of all our gamecocks so Turkey or Rooster will have to do!
