We are gaining more egg customers here. I already had to add a few more pullets and more roosts and nests to the coop.

Awesome! I've had a steady customer in recent months. A box a week. Hey, it's a start. We eat a lot of eggs, so we don't have a whole lot of extras. I still barter a box every now and again, just yesterday I got some comfrey roots for a box of eggs

Adding 2 nest boxes to the coop, since we have 19 birds (I always said we'd have 8-10.. I lied), 9 just started laying.

Waiting for my muscovy to hatch some babies.. any day now. Just watch me be a sap and all "Oh I can't eat these".... Oh well, worst case, I'll sell them

I ended up selling 5 cockerels for $40 a while back.. Easter eggers that were 4 months old, no meat on 'em, so $40 was totally worth it.

We have to put down a few birds this weekend due to MG finding its way into our flock are these birds safe to eat? I'd hate to put them down and not use them. It's so heartbreaking. We split our remaining birds into 4 seperate groups away from each other to quarantine them for the next month. I'm praying no one else has it

I wonder if anyone here sells any of the meat they process to friends or co-workers. For animal consumption, of course... If so, what do you charge for the processed meat? I have a friend at work interested and am thinking $20 ea for the rabbits. They are dressing out between 4 and 4.5 lbs.

Oh we have always used it as Mistral Gris so I was wondering how a chicken caused others to be put down. Now I know and sorry you have this in your flock!!

All I know is, it's not contagious to humans, so I can't really imagine why it would be a problem to eat them... but that's only IF you know for certain that it's Mg. Did a lab test confirm it?

So sorry to hear that some of your flock is ill. Very responsible of you to put them down so it doesn't spread. I believe they are safe for consumption otherwise I would think it would be a required test for the NPIP process in all states. Though Im not 100% so I hope someone else has an answer for you.

Today was process day for me, though I didn't do it myself, they were sent out to the processor down the road from me. 6 turkeys and 2 roosters will be done today I hope it will be a little quieter around here now for a little while, at least until my young males reach crowing age.
