I did 9 Freedom Rangers 3 years ago and the processor charged me $3 a bird.
I am now doing 30 Cornish - I figured it would be about the same or a little bit less -- for a larger batch.
Now I'm seeing many of you are paying only $1.50-$2 per bird!

Today I'm taking her two GIANT Cornish giants that were thrust upon us by a friend yesterday. I have no $ into them and they are HUGE _ must be about 12 weeks old or more. The processor can take them today but wants $20 to do them!

Since I want these two GONE (While they are healthy looking, they are so huger than any Cornish I've ever seen, and I'm afraid they will drop dead!) and I have no money at all into them, I'm paying it this one time.

But how do I find a new processor? I tried Google and I'm not turning up much - is it just word of mouth?
Thanks for any advice - we are near the Delaware Water Gap in NJ, near PA.

Hi Calamtykel! I'm not too far from you and am having the same problem. The butcher shops in the Hackettstown/Long Valley/ Chester area won't (and shouldn't) process our private party poultry because of USDA regulations. I'm still looking and will keep you posted. I would gladly pay $3-4 per bird and drive to the Del water gap. Please let me know what you've found out since your original post. Thanks!! Merry Christmas!!
