Is it common for egg production to drop when new pullets are introduced to the flock and at the same time I got rid of the dominant hen. I was getting 11 or 12 a week out of my two hens. the same day I introduced 8 pullets I sold my dominant hen. Last week got 7 eggs and this week 5. Is this normal?

The factors you mention above are disruptions/stressors for your flock and, yes, stress can cause a change in production.

Depends on how intense the stress and how sensitive the birds are.
I have several flocks and once a beagle got into a pen of 12 hens. He didn't kill any but stressed the hell out of them pulling out tail feathers standing on the birds barking. Very stressful. They had been laying 8-10 eggs a day. That day I got 2 good eggs and one missing a shell. They didn't lay another egg for a month.
Egg laying is ovulation. Any stress disrupts normal ovulation cycles.
