Who has the breed Production Red from TSC and Hoover Hatchery. I would like to know if they like the breed, friendly, easy to raise, and egg production etc. Are they one of their best layers? Would they get them again? How do people feel about buying an unrecognized breed? Any down sides?

production reds, golden comets, red sexlinks, are all about the same breed.
I am not clear what you mean by "unrecognized breeds".
production reds won't live a long time or produce eggs in abundance for more than two seasons..
I know, I know, someone has had better luck with them. those are not the norm..

Some breeds are unrecognized because they are crosses therefore unrecognized by the APA. It’s like in the dog world being unrecognized by AKC for example. I’m not buying them for show just laying purposes but these breeds could not be shown. Just trying to find out pros and cons from those who may have owned them. Sad to know they may not live as long. Is it because of higher production rate that shortens life span? Thks for your speedy response.

they wear out .
I have had many of them through the years.
they generally are very docile.
they lay large brown eggs.
there also is a black version of this type of chicken.
after the reds are through laying, they are hardly worth butchering for meat. small body
no matter what breed of laying hens I kept, I rotated them every two years..
