The Frozen Wasteland of Idaho
As many of you know, I have two turkeys that I am going to process for the holidays. I was in the feed store the other day and saw an ad for a place that processes poultry. I had planned on doing them myself but I called today out of curiosity's sake. They guy said that it was $7 a bird and he would have to wait until he had a big order. I asked when the orders were and he gave me three dates in the next week and a half. I booked an appointment for next Thursday. $7 each to have them freezer ready is well worth the money in my book. These turkeys are both around 30 pounds now. I can't wait for Thanksgiving.

LOL I was lucky to find this guy. I can't wait to see how they turn out. I'll post pics when I get them back. I need to ask him how much for chickens, but honestly, more than a couple bucks is to high for me on chickens.

No one processes up here. The closest is Mass and they charge $5 per
chicken. I'm not paying that. Processing is part of the whole
experience for me.

Now $7 for a 30 pound turkey I would happily pay.

Bring em to my house, $5 per turkey, $3 per chicken. Well worth it if you ask me, drop em off on Sunday go back on Wednesday, and they are vac packed and ready to go. but I would be happy to do the $7 if I had to.

23 pounds finished weight would be just fine with me. I'm looking forward to this.

I agree with you PC. Processing chickens is part of the whole experience. But I love the thought of someone else processing those big turkeys.
