Hello all.
I have a market here where I live in which pretty much any grown hen will bring from 9 to 15 dollars. Now this is just for cross-breads, etc. Roosters 12 to 15.
The market is strong enough that I could sell about as many as I could raise whenever I had them.
With that said, fowl like CX, etc are not exactly what the area wants, but instead just regular fowl. RIR, BR, etc etc etc.
I'm trying to experiment in a way to turn this into a fairly large profit and sell this winter. I can buy day and week old chicks all over the place from .50 to 1.00 depending on the availability. I have about 7 acres to work with but only want to use about 1 acre as I have other animals that need to graze.
I honestly have thought about trying to raise 1k birds or more over the next 6 months and sell them this fall and winter. Can I turn this into a large profit given the figures I mentioned above?
Thoughts and help would be appreciated. At present I'm just a normal back yard flock raiser with about 80 fowl of 4 breeds.
