Hello!
We have a 20 week old Rhode Island Red that prolapsed on Saturday while she was trying to lay an egg. We’ve been keeping her indoors in a dark room most of the day and she hasn’t tried to lay an egg since Sunday. We let her out for a few supervised hours in the afternoons, but we’ve had some difficulty keeping the prolapse in.
The prolapse finally seems to be staying in (yay!) and obviously I don’t want her to try to lay another egg so it heals. I’m wondering how long we should continue to keep her in the dark room most of the day to keep her from laying.
Thanks!
