Yesterday when I let my chickens out I noticed that one of my hens had her intestine hanging out 1 1/2 inches. I at first put vasaline on it and pushed it back into her (carefully) but she kept pushing it out again. I then put honey on it but the same thing is happening. It is now day 2 of putting honey on her intestine, but it doesn't really seem to be helping that much.

Also, some white stuff seems to be dripping from her constantly (can't tell if it is coming out from a crease of the intestine or above it. But it's not coming out along with the excrement. It's coming out above it.) She is also crying . .. poor thing.

Please help as I do not want to lose her. I want her healthy and happy again.
Thanks!

I'm sure you'll get some good answers here.. I am NO help, but I just wanted to say I'm so sorry! Poor baby...I feel so badly for her!

hi

i really never had that problem but one time i had a rooster that had a bad wing i had to cut and then saw it you can put intestines in and then saw it like a regular rag put that blue medicine and we are good to go well that will keep them from coming out again but maybe the wound is infected by now so i dont know may need to was it and then put it back in then proceed with saw in. hope that helps.

Try putting honey on a moist paper towel and holding it on the intestine. leave the honey on for a while and then push it in. The honey shrinks the prolaspe and makes it easier to keep in.

I have never seen this before. I'm guessing it is intestine? It was definitely coming from inside her and was dripping with poop. She was just sitting on her roost and shaking her head. It might be difficult to tell from the photo, but it was every bit of 6" long. Poor sick hen. Whatever it was, she was too far gone to fix it. I'd just like to know for future reference.
