One of my hens currently has a prolapsed vent and maybe some kind of infection as well. Maybe gleet? I’ve included some pictures.

She’s been isolated inside for the past six days. We’re keeping her light limited, supplementing her with calcium and giving her warm epsom salt baths. I’m trying to keep the area clean and apply antiseptic cream, though I’ve had to trim some of her bum feathers to do so. She’s eating/pooping well, and is acting normally.

I’ve tried pushing the prolapse back in daily, but it never stays in for more than a few seconds. She also has a “discharge”???? That I have to clean everyday. Not sure if maybe it is pus or something fecal or fungal? It’s cream coloured and forms a crust on her vent and down her backside. Super hard to get off. Wondering if any body has dealt with something similar.

How does she smell? Vent gleet may be a possibility, but most people say that it smells bad. Can you get sulfur cream or yeast infection cream at your pharmacy? Either wound be good to put on the irritated skin after her daily soak. Hopefully her prolapse will stay in eventually. I would hold it in for a few minutes while holding her on your lap. Has she been laying eggs?

Yes, I forgot to mention that there is a pretty funky smell! I’ll pick up some yeast infection cream tonight, thank you. She layed eggs the first two days we had her isolated, but not for the past 4. I have tried holding it in and there seems to be a little progress as the first few days it didn’t stay in at all.

Are you using ACV in your water? If not you should use some for her and your other girls. I tablespoon per gallon.

This sounds like the exact issue I'm having. Did you have any luck in treating because I feel like I've tried everything. My girls butt is very Gross and prolapsed with a crust but everything else about her is normal.
